Catherine Pfuntner, LMFT, CSAC, ICADC

Catherine is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Hawaii, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. She is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Hawaii. She has been in the mental health field for 17 years. It has been her passion to focus on supporting individuals and couples, developing continually in well-researched treatment models. She is currently working on Gottman Method Couples Therapy certification and is in the Discernment Counseling Residency Program. She is also a Certified Neurodiverse Couples therapist, and has specialty experience with Veterans and Military Service Members; Trauma; and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Though she enjoys providing services, she lights up providing supervision. Getting to support a therapist as they are learning, growing, and developing is a truly privileged role.

Ethical and legal issues in mandated reporting

Mandated reporting laws require mental health providers to report suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable populations, including children, elderly individuals, and individuals with disabilities. Clinicians will learn about mandated reporting requirements as well as some of the issues they need to keep front of mind as they build relationships with their clients or are faced with mandatory reporting situations. We’ll also address how to approach these situations in the context of clinical supervision.
