Holly Sawyer, PhD, LPC, CAADC, NCC

Dr. Holly Sawyer is the Director of the Masters in Addictions Counseling (MAC) program and Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Counseling and Family Therapy at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Prior to her employment at Drexel University, Dr. Holly was a clinical director at an intensive outpatient treatment facility and clinical supervisor at a methadone clinic. For 19 years, she has been teaching in the areas of k-12, Adult Basic Education and Higher Education. She is a private practice practitioner in Pennsylvania where she helps professional Black women navigate microaggressions in the workplace by helping them find their inner power through assertiveness without using substances to cope. As a scholar-practitioner, she is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor (CAADC), a national certified counselor (NCC), DOT qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and PA certified board endorsed clinical supervisor. Dr. Holly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Grambling State University. She earned a Master of Public Administration degree in Nonprofit Management from Southeastern University in Washington, DC, and a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Dr. Holly also has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education. Besides her professional and educational achievements, Dr. Holly is also an author and national mental health public speaker. She’s been a panelist and conference presenter for the National Board for Certified Counselors Foundation (NBCCF), National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC); and Unilever’s Black Excellence (BE-U) to name a few. She's been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer and on Philadelphia's Fox News 29.
