Sara Steiner, MBA, LCSW

Sara currently works within a specialized program called the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT) with the San Diego Police Department, where she navigates mental health crises that require a police response. Often first on scene for an actively suicidal or violent person, Sara is skilled the art of safety assessment and 5150 criteria with all populations. Sara has previously held roles as a Program Director for a residential adult mental health program, overseeing the care for conserved clientele. She received her MSW from the University of Southern California, an MBA from Pepperdine University, and is an LCSW in California.

Crisis management and suicidality

This course identifies the methods used by crisis team experts when handling a case with suicidality or history of violence. These skills are essential to early career clinicians and they are not always included in typical course curriculum. Clinicians will learn how to prepare for a session with clients in crisis, ask questions in crisis moments, and what to look for an initial assessment and ongoing.
